Is Johnny Depp CII's new ambassador? Twitter seems to think so

If you think you can get away with beating your wife because you're Johnny Depp, think again

If you think you can get away with beating your wife because you're Johnny Depp, think again.

Megastar Johnny Depp has been accused of physically assaulting his wife Amber Heard, who submitted a photo of her bruised face to a court in the United States, while filing for divorce from the actor.

The news came just days after Pakistan's Council of Islamic Ideology proposed a bill permitting 'light beating' of wives.

Twitter didn't let the coincidence slip by unnoticed, making for some dark comedy.

It is refreshing, nevertheless, to see Pakistanis condemn not only CII's proposals but also the Hollywood actor's alleged abuse.

Hafeez | 7 years ago | Reply Dear all: Quaran used word "Zaraba" to beat woman......ulma has extracted from ahadis the meanings of this word to beat lightly. in one ahadis it is mentioned to beat with miswaq. beating women lightly is the last tact not the first. allama sherani has reffered beating lightly as beating with handkerchief or hat so that no physical scratch or injury could happen. and beating is not favorable in islam. it just to violent women who tuns out of her jurisdiction as described by islam without any reasonable justification. plz dont manipulate CII statements. tell me don't you people punish kids gently on severe and deliberate mistakes. or tell me when someone is indugle in criminal act, is there no punishment??
Chauvinist misogynist | 7 years ago | Reply As far as rational logic and truth is concerned, there is no evidence that Johnny Depp assaulted his wife physically. At this point it is he said-she said. Or are you saying you take women's words more seriously than those of men ? If yes, then you are a bigot. If no, then you are dishonest for writing this article portraying Mr. Depp as guilty.
