@Indian Hindu:
India is not a secular, liberal and a a country with scientific temper. Nehru has no contribution in that. Democracy exists even before Independence. Court systems bought by Britishers. SC and EC exists in different forms before Independence. Constitution was made by Ambedkar not by Nehru. Nehru opposed Ambedkar constitution and establishment of these systems.
Nehru ruled like a dictator till his death. Nehru was against secular liberal democracy and said that Indian Muslims are not yet ready.
It was Maulana Azad who gave educational institutions like IITs. ISRO in 1969. Bhakra Nangal Dams by Britishers. Steel plants were FDI from Germany and Russia. None of those countries helped India in 1962, instead they laughed at India.
Nehru wrote against Islam and Christianity.
None of the works by Nehru are extraordinary.

Truth cannot be denied just because Right Wing appears to incompetent to match Nehru. Hate Mongering by right wing against Nehru is due inherent hatred and inadequacy in ideology of right wing .

There is an attempt made by Right wing elements in India to discredit the legacy of First PM of India, -Pandit Nehru. all Indians owe large portion of the good will generated by India and Indian system of Secularism, Liberal, Scientific temper, Education , Established Democratic institutions like EC, SC, CAG, Media , Judiciary, Adult Universal Franchise etc are due to visionary leadership under Nehru. After 1947, India has choice of becoming tinpot democracy or established liberal Democracy. Nehru gave leadership for framing Liberal Secular Constitution to India, which has survived test of time. Nehru gave educational institutions like IITs, IIMs and scientific bodies like BARC, ISRO which engaged in Nuclear and Space technology.He encouraged Self Reliant India, also known as Make in India today with indigenous projects like Bhakra Nangal Dams, Steel plants etc. Nehru insisted on not aligning into power blocks like NATO etc. this has earned dividend to India in long term in having relationship with western, eastern, islamic and african nations. Intellectually Pandit Nehru was giant when compared to most of leaders who reel out cheap speeches criticizing other communities or political opponents. rich legacy of Nehru is paying dividends today in terms of Education, Major Infra companies, ISRO, DRDO,BARC, Pokhran etc. Indians who refuse to acknowledge the contributions made by Pandit Nehru are destined to take India down the destructive path.

@Sunil:
Shame on you.
Indians like you are dime a dozen. They easily fall into trap of popular rhetoric.
While i admire Modi's dynamism, his economic politicies of creating wealth, employment in the country, please remember that much of democracy we see in India today is a legacy of Nehru.
Soon after 1947 it would have been impossible for India to remain united if it were not for the charisma of Nehru who believed in non-violence. Non-violence was the need of hour in 1947 when riots, massacred had torn apart much of North India.
India could have gone the Pakistan way and declared itself a Hindu nation. We would today be divided into many nations and not remained one.
Nehru, through his unbiased secularism, lent a healing hand during those times.
Of course, there were a lot of problems and not all he did was right (see my previous post) but then nations make mistakes but learn from them and move on.
You do not denegrade a national icon just because you are a BJP person or belong to this crap called Hindutva.

Not a good idea to talk about dead people. But people need to know their Iti-Has, "as it happened" and not HisStory penned by paid darbari of his master. Nehru was more of a product that Congress which started as evening debating club of rich and feudal who were Brishit lackeys. Gandhi baba tried to convert it into real people's Congress and was largely successful partially because of which Brishit left, but while leaving they installed ConAngrez as their proxies and Nehru was such proxy to a great extent. He kept India's growth stunted just like his master Brishit did before. So India's share of wold GDP which plummeted from 26% to 1.4% from 1834 to 1947 in Brishit rule and stayed around 1.6% during ConAngrezi rule till 2000. In last ConAngrezi rule wannabe nonIndian Lutyen Looteri ConAngrezis looted $1.7Trillion of toiling Indian masses. It is equivalent to massacring 220 Million Indians.
Fake Chacha wannabe Anglo Nehru was trying to "Rediscover India" in wrong places. He royally Mama Banawed us Indians for so long with his social engineering with Kirket and Urduized Bollywood. Under Nehru India lost Tibet, Gilgit Baltisthan, Baluchistan and under her daughter's rule Indians did not stop genocide of 3 Million and rape of 400 thousand Bangalis and to free Bangalis 4000 Indians gave their lives. How much ConAngrezis try hard to wipe out real Itihas, it is in Indian DNA. India is democratic and progressing because of its Dharmic culture, otherwise India would be like AfPak, Iraq and Syria today.

I thought Nehru was considered a villain in Pakistan so why this sudden love for him? I guess, Modi has managed to do what Nehru himself couldn't.

@Syed:
You better read some history (not Pakistani text books please!)
Nehru and Gandhi freed a billion and a half Asian peoples from British slavery - that too using "Non-Violent" principles. They are more relevant today than ever - in the age of Jihad and Taliban....
