Model town rioting: Qadri to lead sit-in on The Mall
PAT chief Tahirul Qadri would lead the protest

Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) secretary general Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said on Thursday the party would stage a sit-in on The Mall on June 17 to protest the killing of its workers during the Model Town riots. PAT chief Tahirul Qadri would lead the protest, Gandapur told a press conference. He said the DCO had been informed in writing about the sit-in plan. He said arrangements would be made for taraveeh prayers and sehr on The Mall during the sit-in. He said Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chairman Imran Khan, Jamaat-i-Islami leader Sirajul Haq, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Majlis-i-Wahdatul Muslimeen’s Raja Nasir Abbas had been invited to the sit-in. “We will be on the streets to demand justice for the Model Town martyrs,” Gandapur said. Khwaja Amir Fareed, Brig (r) Mushtaq Ahmad, Basharat Jaspal, Fayyaz Warraich, Noorullah Siddique and Sajid Bhatti were also present.
