PESHAWAR: A social activist has pressed the relevant authorities to take action against officials of Zaida police station for abducting a man and provoking him to commit murder.

Addressing a news conference at Peshawar Press Club on Wednesday, social activist Khanzada Iftikhar Ahmad Khan said Asghar Ali was charged in a fake murder case. He was living in Bhara Kahu, Islamabad when officials of Zaida police arrested him without obtaining an arrest warrant. According to the activist, Ali was arrested on April 4 from Bhara Kahu. However, it was revealed that the arrest was made within the jurisdiction of Zaida police station.

“Zaida SHO flung Ali [the accused] from a hill top,” he said. “He survived and was critically injured. He was rushed to the hospital for treatment.”

Khanzada Iftikhar Ahmad said Ali was taken into custody once again and forced to buy a Kalashnikov from the market so that he could be charged for possessing illegal weapon.

“Ali was told to kill me,” he said. “If he agreed to do so, the police said they would release him. The SHO should be charged for abducting Ali and provoking people to kill social activists.”
