The special judicial magistrate, Khairpur, Riaz Wassan and his team raided various clinics, laboratories and medical stores near Luqman Railway Crossing and Civil hospital. Around five people were also arrested during the raids, however, they were later freed on personal surety. The suspects included Jahangir, Mansoor Ali, Iqbal Hassan and Rafiq Ahmed.
Blood banks at two hospitals sealed
During checking, the authorities discovered that Bismallah Clinic, Rohan Clinic, Mahar Laboratory, Bhittai Laboratory, New Indus Laboratory and Sindh Medical Store were being run without an authorised licence. Besides this, substandard medicines and testing kits were also being used in these laboratories and clinics.
Speaking to the media, the special judicial magistrate said that awareness should be created among the public about such clinics, laboratories and medical stores. He added that the people should check and verify the licence before visiting any medical store, laboratory or clinic. Wassan said that some laboratories have been found using expired medicines and testing kits, which is hazardous for the people.

Wassan further said that if the public find anything wrong at any medical store, laboratory or clinic, they should immediately report the matter to the office of the special judicial magistrate. He warned that if substandard or expired medicines are found at any stores, they will be sealed.
