Kamal pulls 17 members of Musharraf's party into PSP

All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) spokesperson Asia Ishaq is among the dissidents who joined hands with Kamal's party

KARACHI: About 17 members of the All Pakistan Muslim League (APML), including spokesperson Asia Ishaq, have joined Mustafa Kamal’s political bandwagon.

The former Karachi mayor and leader of the fledgling Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) made the announcement during a news conference on Wednesday in Karachi.



Referring to the country's current education standards, Kamal said, "Karachi used to be Pakistan's most literate city, but now it's graph has dropped to 43."

The citizens will have to speak up and stand up for their rights if they want education standards to be improve," he added.

Twenty days after launching his new political movement on Marach 3, the dissident leader of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) unveiled the name of his party the ‘Pak Sarzameen Party’.



Since the formation of PSP, leaders of several parties pledged allegiance with Kamal, including deposed MQM leader Anees Ahmed Advocate, two ex-MQM leaders Waseem Aftab and Iftikhar Alam and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Syed Hafeezuddin.
