ISLAMABAD: Islamabad police have sought special allocation for police stations in the upcoming budget to fulfil their needs towards effective policing.

The demand has been forwarded to the Ministry of Interior, which would formally ask the Finance Ministry for allocation, an official source said.

He said that a new police station at Faizabad had also been proposed, which would take the total to 23.

The interior ministry has given approval for setting up the police station with the purpose to combat crime effectively and resolve public complaints on an immediate basis.

The ministry will also enhance financial resources for Islamabad police in the upcoming budget, the source said.

The newly proposed Faizabad police station
will cover sectors H-8 and I-8, which presently fall in the jurisdiction of the Industrial Area Police Station.

A source in interior ministry said that a private building might be hired for the new police station.

In the upcoming budget, special allocation has
been requested for existing and newly-established police stations, he added.
