Panjgur tragedy: Would-be groom among 8 dead as bus overturns  

The bodies were handed over to the families for burial after legal formalities

QUETTA: A would-be bridegroom, four brothers and three others were killed when a speeding bus overturned in the Naag area of Panjgur on Sunday. The aspiring groom had boarded the Panjgur-bound bus along with dozens of wedding party members from the city of Karachi. He was expecting to meet up with his bride and her family there.

At least 38 people were also injured in the accident. Police blamed the road crash on reckless driving.

According to police, a bus was on en route from Karachi to Panjgur for a marriage ceremony. While navigating its way through the Naag area, the bus driver lost control of the vehicle due to overspeeding and it overturned. As a result, eight people, including the would be groom, were killed and 38 others sustained injuries.

Police and rescue workers rushed the spot to ferry the deceased and the injured to the District Headquarter Hospital Panjgur.

The deceased were identified as bridegroom Fahim, Waleed, Muzammil, Waqas, Muzaffar, Sanaullah, and a woman, Shararato, the eighth person was so far unidentified, hospital sources said.

The bodies were handed over to the families for burial after legal formalities.
