Anti-corruption investigators looking into the Mushtaq Raisani scandal found more than Rs5 million in cash stashed in cartons at a bakery in Quetta on Saturday.

Balochistan finance secretary's remand extended in NAB custody

Raisani, then Balochistan finance secretary, was arrested from his office on May 6 after NAB officials seized about Rs700 million in cash and jewellery from his residence.

Three more people identified as Sohail Majeed, Asad Shah and Nadeem Iqbal were later arrested on information divulged by the suspect accused of misappropriating millions of government funds.

According to a NAB spokesperson, Saturday’s bakery raid was conducted on Samungli Road on a tip off provided by contractor Asad. The operation yielded Rs5.7 million in cash, gold, foreign currency and some property papers as well.
