HYDERABAD:

Benazir Income Support Programme chairperson Marvi Memon has played down the threat to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz's (PML-N) government in the wake of the Panama leaks.

"[On the contrary] PML-N is gaining popularity among the masses. And this will be reflected in the 2018 general elections," she said while speaking to a gathering at Ghulam Hussain Lakhatio village in Sujawal district on Saturday.

She criticised the opposition parties for trying to destabilise the economy and hamper development projects by beating the drum of the Panama inquiry. "Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has announced to form a judicial commission and offered the opposition to prepare its terms of reference," she said. "He has presented himself and his family first for accountability." PML-N's federal government is cooperating with the opposition parties but the latter appear divided, she added.
