Hussain, former Lieutenant General of Pakistan Army, served as K-P governor from 2000-04 as well as Pakistan's ambassador to Turkey.
The move comes a day after senior Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Raja Riaz joined PTI's ranks during the party’s rally in Faisalabad.
Addressing a news conference in Islamabad, PTI chairman Imran Khan reiterated that it is imperative for Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to step down until an investigation of the Panama leaks is carried out.

"After the revelations, the premier is required to respond about his source of income and taxes paid, explain how the money moved abroad as well as make his sale deed public," Imran said.
PTI aims to mobilise people against the high-profile corruption exposed by the Panama Papers, he said, adding, "A mutually agreed 12-member committee is already working on the terms of reference (ToRs)."
According to the PTI leader, there were also legal aspects to the scandal as, according to him, the Election Commission of Pakistan was not told the truth as far as declaration of assets is concerned.
Leaked documents from the Mossack Fonseca law firm in Panama last month showed PM Nawaz's three children – sons: Hassan and Hussain, and his daughter, Maryam – owned at least three offshore holding companies registered in the British Virgin Islands.

The prime minister has already written to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to form a judicial commission probing the leaks.
However, the opposition, mainly led by the PTI, has been forcing for mutually agreed ToRs to investigate the scandal.
