Mobs of angry residents staged on Friday a protest near Karachi’s Baloch Colony area, which led to a massive traffic jam on both sides of the Shaheed-e-Millat Expressway.
According to Express News reported, people protesting against water and power outages pelted stones on the passing vehicles and blocked the road which caused a gridlock on the expressway.
However, the protesters were dispersed by the paramilitary Rangers.
Some of the protesters even clashed with personnel of the paramilitary force as they dispersed the crowd to make way for the traffic.
Karachi, like many other cities, has been hit by severe hot and dry weather conditions, coupled with power outages have become nuisance for its residents.
Karachi readies graves, hospitals as mercury rises
On Wednesday, residents of Baba and Bhit Islands staged a sit-in against days-long blackout on the Native Jetty Bridge, which caused shortage of petroleum products at filling stations in some parts of the country for at least a day.
Daytime temperatures in the plains of Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Sindh are likely to hover above normal and cross 45 degree Celsius. Some central parts of the country are expected to witness up to 52 degrees.

In Larkana and Jacobabad, the mercury level has already touched 50 degree Celsius. It has been fluctuating between 51 and 53 degrees in Mohenjodaro and is expected to increase even more in the upcoming week.
