Varsity’s 1st syndicate meeting held

Zakia Shahnawaz said nearly 400 students were attending four degree programmes being offered on the campus

LAHORE: The first syndicate meeting of Khwaja Fareed University of Engineering and Information Technology (KFUEIT), Rahim Yar Khan, was held on Thursday. It discussed the annual report of the vice chancellor and the university budget for 2016-17.

The meeting, chaired by Pro-Chancellor and Higher Education Minister Zakia Shahnawaz, was held at conference room of the Lahore Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education. Higher Education Department Secretary Irfan Ali, Information Technology University VC Umar Saif and MPAs Umar Jaffar, Mehwish Sultana and Fauzia Qureshi were also present. Speaking to media after the meeting, Shanawaz said that the university was set up on April 22, 2014, as a flagship project for uplift of higher education in southern Punjab. She said Rs3,847 million had been approved for PC-1 of the project. She said 220 acres had been reserved for the university on Abu Dhabi Road in Rahim Yar Khan. She said nearly 400 students were attending four degree programmes being offered on the campus. “More degree programmes will be launched soon. The number of students is expected to reach 1,200 over the next three years.”
