A fire at a jewellery shop near Sadiqabad Chowk caused losses estimated at Rs 670,000, according to Rescue 1122 officials.
The fire at a shop owned by Rashid Mehmood was caused by gas leaking from a cylinder. The fire started at about 4:45pm.
Rescue 1122 officials said they were able to save Rs20 million worth of merchandise. They said that the fire lasted for 20 minutes before fire-fighters were able to douse it.
Meanwhile, a fire also broke out at an under-construction plaza in Sector E-11. No injuries were reported.
The fire erupted on the shuttering of the top floor of the plaza and rapidly spread due to the wind.
Rescue 1122, Edhi, and fire bridge teams were at the scene to douse the fire and assist people.
