KARACHI:

An accountability court indicted on Saturday former minority affairs secretary, Badar Jamil Mandhro, and others accused in illegal appointments case.

Mandhro, who was serving as excise secretary, was arrested in June last year by the National Accountability Bureau for illegally inducting officers in the minority affairs department.

The anti-graft watchdog maintains that 26 officers were illegally appointed in return of heavy bribes during 2012 and 2013. Former director of the department, Khadim Hussain Channa, and around 20 others have also been nominated in this case.

The judge directed all the accused and NAB officials to produce witnesses on next hearing on May 28.
