Bus skids off road: One killed, 18 injured in AJK

Injured passengers said that the bus tilted and skidded off the road as its roof rack was overloaded with luggage

MUZAFFARABAD: A woman was killed and 18 others were injured when a passenger bus skidded off the road and plunged into a ravine in the Hattian Bala area of Azad Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday.

According to the local police, a passenger bus (MDXA-03) was going to Rashian from Rawalpindi when it veered off the road near the Dhani Bakalan area, killing a woman on the spot and injuring 18 other passengers.

Local pulled the body and the injured out of the wreckage and shifted them to Hattian Bala and Muzaffarabad hospitals for treatment.

The injured passengers said that the bus tilted and skidded off the road as its roof rack was overloaded with luggage.

The deceased was identified as Rukaya Begum, and the injured as Ayub, Ishfaq, Hajra, Sakeena,  Shabnam,  Mrs Noor Din, Shafi, Rashid, Sharif, Yusaf, Sahrif, Hassan Khan, Mumtaz, Rashid Hameed, Aurangzeb, Munawar Khan, Khan and Imtiaz.
