A roadside eatery worker in India was fatally injured after he was pushed into a vessel of steaming curry by an enraged customer.

Lalan Singh, 42, who worked at a local eatery in Kolkata was pushed into the large pot of curry by a customer Mohammad Zakir, for serving poor quality food.

“Lalan received severe burn injuries on his stomach, face and leg. He was admitted to Calcutta Medical College and Hospital. However, he succumbed to his injuries this morning. We’ve informed his family members in Bihar,” a police officer said.

According to reports, Zakir, a regular customer at the eatery, got into an argument with Singh for serving him low quality fish curry. It wasn't long after the matter was resolved that Zakir asked Singh to serve him rotis, upon which a scuffle broke out. Singh allegedly refused to tell the customer that the order would take longer than expected.

It was during the scuffle that Singh tripped into the container and received severe injuries.

Following the incident, the Hare Street police arrested Zakir but was granted bail on the same day.

However, reports revealed that Singh's death has led to Zakir being charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder. Further he was remanded into judicial custody for seven days.

Shocked by the incident, many took to Twitter.
