KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) cancelled on Thursday the pre-arrest bail granted to a former local government secretary in a case pertaining to accumulation of assets beyond the known source of income.

Headed by Justice Ahmed Ali M Sheikh, the division bench dismissed the petition of Ali Ahmed Lund against the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and recalled the bail granted to him earlier.

The petitioner said that NAB had initiated an inquiry against him regarding accumulation of his assets worth Rs380 million allegedly beyond his sources of income.

He had denied the allegations and had pleaded that the court restrain the accountability bureau from summoning or harassing him in connection with the purported inquiry.

Announcing its verdict on the bail plea, the SHC bench dismissed his petition. The court also recalled the pre-arrest bail granted to him earlier.
