Retaliation: Wapda officials thrashed by residents
The Wapda Workers Union has condemned the ill-treatment meted out to the officials
MARDAN:
Officials of Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) were thrashed by residents of Gujar Garhi in Mardan after they disconnected illegal kunda connections in the locality. According to a press release issued on Thursday, Wapda Hydro Electric Workers Union Chairperson Jahangir Khan said the officials found illegal connections in the area. “When the Wapda team disconnected the connections, Yasir Khan and his friends stormed the office of Gujar Garhi and thrashed Wapda officers, including SDO Azam Khan and Muhammad Salman,” the statement quoted Jahangir as saying. “Subsequently, the police arrested eight suspects in connection with the incident and started investigation.” The Wapda Workers Union has condemned the ill-treatment meted out to the officials and demanded of the authorities to take stern action against those involved in the incident.
