Shoot out: Suspected kidnapers escape to Tribal Areas

Three cases registered against unidentified men accused of firing at police.

DERA GHAZI KHAN: Three cases were registered against unidentified men accused of firing at a police party on Thursday in Dera Ghazi Khan. The police team comprising Kasur, Saddar, Sakhi Sarwar police officials, raided the Patti Tomi area in Saddar police precinct to rescue a kidnapped girl, a resident of Phoolnagar in Kasur.

The police fired back at the kidnappers who were later successful in escaping to the adjoining tribal area. The police detained a van (6955 MNR), some electricity wires and a bag full of Kalashnikov bullets. Rana Muhammad Iqbal, the Saddar police station house officer, said the van had been stolen from Lora Lai area. According to sources, Asif alias Lakhu Khosa and his accomplices Amanullah Khosa and Khadim were involved in the kidnapping. They were wanted in several kidnapping cases. They were accused of selling kidnapped women from northern districts of the Punjab in the tribal areas.

A few months back two girls who had been kidnapped from upper Punjab area were recovered from the area by the Saddar police. The kidnappers had then too been successful in escaping with 15 girls still in their custody.
