KARACHI: Customs authorities detained on Wednesday Nawabzada Rehan Khan Chandio, the younger brother of PPP MPA Nawabzada Sardar Ahmed Chandio, who is also the chieftain of the Chandio tribe, at Karachi airport before he boarded a Dubai-bound flight.

According to officials of Pakistan Customs’ Drug Enforcement Cell, Rehan Khan Chandio, was accompanied by an elderly woman, said to be his maid.

He was en route to Dubai via Emirates Airlines.

“We kept him at the airport and will lodge an FIR against him,” Mohammad Ali Memon, senior customs official at airport said.

According to officials, he was carrying 100,000 UAE dirhams (amounting to $25,000), while travelers could only carry $10,000 or an equivalent amount in other foreign currencies.
