PESHAWAR: Over 200 girls from seminaries and government schools participated in a sports gala that was held in the city on Monday.

The event aimed to promote harmony and tolerance among students and to provide them a background to interact and learn from one another. The initiative was organised by the Peace Education and Development (PEAD) Foundation, along with Unicef, under the Social Cohesion and Resilience programme.

During the event, students took part in badminton, tug of war and skipping rope competitions. While speaking on the occasion, MPA Rashida Riffat and other speakers said such events enhance cooperation between students from seminaries and government schools.

They said it will encourage students to become confident and help them become good Samaritans who can work towards a peaceful and cohesive society.
