KARACHI: Advisor to Prime Minister on Revenue Haroon Akhtar Khan has said that the government is focused on presenting a budget with a clear objective to spur economic growth, encourage investment in industries and broaden the tax base.

Exchanging views with a delegation of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) at a meeting held at the FBR House in Islamabad, Khan assured that KCCI’s proposals have received serious consideration by the FBR and the Ministry of Finance which will be incorporated in the budgetary measures as far as possible, according to a press release.

The KCCI delegation and the team of FBR officials discussed proposals point by point and each side presented its point of view to develop a consensus on various measures.

FBR Chairman Nisar Mohammad Khan, in his remarks, appreciated the efforts made by KCCI to present comprehensive and detailed proposals, incorporating a broader cross-section of trade and industry.

He also assured the KCCI delegation that the proposals are receiving due consideration and importance it deserves because it represents the views and feedback of the largest tax-payers body in Pakistan.

He informed that an alternate dispute resolution committee (ADRC) is being reintroduced which will certainly bring better results, favoring the trade industry.

Former KCCI president Siraj Kassam Teli said that although issues are being discussed, no implementation was seen during the past many years.
