A local magistrate on Wednesday reserved verdict on plea of a woman seeking exhumation of the body of her husband, who, she alleged, was killed in “a fake police encounter”.
Magistrate Janzeb Amman Hafeez recorded statement of Sabiha Bibi, the wife of Abdul Haq, who was killed in “custody”, but police claimed he was killed during an encounter.
The magistrate is likely to announce the verdict on May 7.
The woman maintained that she saw torture marks and broken bones of Haq after his body was handed over to her by the police.
The woman alleged that her husband was killed by the Saddar Bairuni police in a “fake encounter”.
Earlier, Homicide Investigation Unit (HIU) Sub-Inspector Arif Hussain told the judicial magistrate that charges against Saddar Bairuni SHO Inspector Yar Muhammad, Assistant Sub-inspectors Raja Ammad, Khalil Bhatti and Jahangir Bhatti for their involvement in killing during custody could not be proved and they were unsubstantiated.
The court will also announce its decision on the report of the HIU on May 7.
