Court proceedings were boycotted by lawyers as they went on strike after the slaying of advocates Atif and Ali Muntazar on Thursday.
Lawyers demanded the administration and government provide protection to their community and take strict action against the culprits. FIRs were registered against the target killings of the four people. The incidents occurred on Grid Road and Muryalli on the outskirts of DI Khan city.
The funeral prayers of the deceased were held on Friday amid tight security and attended by a large number of people.
The CTD registered FIRs after complaints from the victims’ families against unidentified individuals.
DI Khan DPO Yasir Afridi formed different police teams and began searching for the culprits.
In the Cantt police station limits, search operations were conducted which resulted in at least 60 people being taken into custody and shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation.
District Police officer Lieutenant (retd) Yasir Afridi said one group was involved in these killings. He said the issue of security would be taken up with the K-P government and 300 CCTV cameras would be installed.
Shot dead
An official of Board of Revenue, Anwar Zeb, was killed when unidentified people opened fire at his car on Dalazak Road in the Paharipura police’s jurisdiction in Peshawar.
