KARACHI: Shahzain Bugti, the provincial chief of Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP), reiterated his request for the security forces to withdraw from Dera Bugti and stated that they will continue with their long march as planned.

While speaking at the Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) headquarters Nine Zero in Karachi, Bugti said that the forces should leave as the land is the  property of the Bugti tribes.

“We will continue our long march, as Balochistan is being taken towards destruction, instead of betterment,” he said.

Bugti thanked MQM and other religious parties who supported their cause. He added that he hoped the security forces would not interfere in their long march.

He also said that the missing people as well as the innocent people who were jailed should all be released.

Bugti was arrested when paramilitary troops recovered a huge quantity of arms and ammunition from his possession. After his release, he announced holding a long march for the rehabilitation of the people of Dera Bugti who were displaced during a military operation.

Abdullah | 13 years ago | Reply "Dera Bugti is property of Bugti Tribe" and when he says this he means all living beings within the Dera Bugti area serve the Bugti Tribe and all the crop they harvest or the herds they reer are for the Bugti family. This is insane feudalism and not acceptable. Unless Shahzain can promise the people of Dera Bugti Human Rights, access to better living, end to forced labor and forced improsenment...he will do worse for the people than the forces present there. MQM should be ashamed of maintaining such double standards. While their leaders demands an end to Feudalism, here they are providing their platform to a hard core feudal lord to forward his family feudal agenda!! Shame

Before making your nationalistic comments you should read about the pre-Independence promises of autonomy Jinnah made to the leaders of Balochistan. The Baloch/Bugti insurgency is a direct result of Pakistan's refusal to honour these promises.
