MULTAN: The Revenue Department has completed 90 per cent computerisation of land records in Dera Ghazi Khan district, said DCO Nadeem ur Rahman said on Thursday. He was presiding over a meeting of the Land Revenue Department.

He said the online sale and purchase of land had curbed fraud. “Now people can access records of their land online.” he

Rahman said this not only prevented fraud but also saved people time. “They can now access their records in minutes.” He said a timeline for the registration, ownership and the completion of related procedures had been provided on the basis of first come, first served.

The patwari system was fraught with corruption and fraud, Rahman said. “It had a terrible reputation and people did not trust it.” He said the computerised system would put an end to that reputation.

“Government employees must not get lured into the idea of making easy money through fraudulent means.” He warned that strict action would be taken against tainted government officials.”

Rahman said the remaining land record computerisation would be completed before June 30. He directed the officials to meet the targets of dues they had been told to collect as soon as possible.

Additional District Collector Abdul Shakoor, Kot Chattha Assistant Commissioner Mehar Aziz ur Rahman, Land Records Assistant Director Aisha Zahoor and other revenue officers from Dera Ghazi Khan attended the meeting.
