Overturned: Six security personnel injured as vehicle plunges into ravine

HANGU: At least six security personnel were injured when their car plunged into a ravine in Balyamina area of Hangu on Wednesday.

A security official told The Express Tribune the vehicle was on its way to Banda Patt Darband when the incident occurred. According to the official, a group of cattle appeared on the road.

“The driver tried to turn,” he said. “However, he could not as he was driving at a high speed. The car eventually overturned.”

The vehicle careened into the ravine, leaving all six security personnel injured.



Locals rushed to the site and helped pull out the injured from the ravine.

“The injured have been identified as Naik Laiq Khan, Siyahi Umer Hassan, Siyahi Jawad, Lans Naik Aashiq, Naik Tahir and Siyahi Noor Wali,” the security official said. “They were taken to District Headquarters Hospital Hangu and were later referred to Combined Military Hospital, Kohat.” The injured were in stable condition.

Crime diary

At least 50 proclaimed offenders (PO), five drug dealers and 100 suspects have been arrested from Hangu during a search operation conducted in April.

This was said by Hangu DPO Shah Nazar while speaking to the media.



“SHOs of City, Doaba, Tal, Balyamina and Saddar police stations carried out a search operation last month,” he said. “They confiscated six Kalashnikovs, 16 guns, eight rifles, 32 pistols, 48 magazines, two hand grenades, 14 kilogrammes of hashish and 307 grammes of opium.”

He added a series of operations will continue throughout the district to arrest the suspects and proclaimed offenders.
