Decisions, decisions: Foreign or local coach; BoG to vote today
Board intends to take everyone’s consent before finalising candidate, says PCB official
KARACHI:
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will put the matter of hiring the head coach in front of the Board of Governors in an important meeting today where they will decide via a vote whether the board should hire a foreign or local coach.
Several names have emerged for the coaching position which has been empty ever since Waqar Younis left last month.
One of the contenders, Englishman Peter Moores, has already turned down PCB’s offer after committing himself to his family, while former UAE coach Aaqib Javed has been hired by Lahore Qalandars.

Australian Tom Moody and Dean Jones were contenders early on but were out of the race once Moores and South African Micky Arthur became favourites, along with Aaqib.
“The matter of selecting a head coach will be put in front of the BoG members to take their opinion whether to hire a foreign coach or local one,” a PCB official told The Express Tribune. “We want to take everyone’s consent before making a decision on the subject. PCB will also give weightage to what Wasim Akram and Ramiz Raja suggest.”

The BoG will also be told about what sort of business the Pakistan Super League (PSL) did financially in its first edition.
There are also reports that the BoG might also take into account the case of PCB looking to axe some of the influential workers who have failed to deliver and Zakir Khan’s name might be discussed who has worked as director domestic and international cricket in past.
