LAHORE:

Specialised Healthcare Secretary Najam Ahmed Shah on Friday directed the public hospitals to take all necessary measures for prevention, detection and management of seasonal food-borne diseases like gastroenteritis and acute watery diarrhoea (AWD).

In a circular addressed to the principals of autonomous medical institutions, medical superintendents of teaching hospitals, head of the Children Hospital and the vice chancellors of the medical colleges, the secretary asked them to follow international protocols and ensure provision of quality healthcare facilities to those visiting for food-borne diseases. He said authorities concerned had been asked to display banners at all public hospitals informing the public about the availability of essential medicines for gastroenteritis.
