PESHAWAR: The Shuhada-e-Army National Ranking Badminton was inaugurated in the city on Friday by Corps Commander Lieutenant General Hidayatur Rehman. The sporting event is dedicated to the sacrifices rendered by army personnel who have lost their lives. The corps commander lauded the K-P Badminton Association, K-P Directorate of Sports and Peshawar Services Club for organising the event and bringing together players from across Pakistan to participate in the event. “We are heading towards complete normalcy in K-P and Fata,” he said. ‘Our people have rendered sacrifices for the restoration of peace in our country.” K-P Badminton Association President Zafar Ali Khan said such events “portray a soft image of the province as well as the country”. At least 120 players participated in the Shuhada-e-Army badminton tournament which is being held after a hiatus of 17 years.
