According to the contracts signed with the five franchises, it was outlined that a new team would only be added after successful completion of the first two editions. The franchises expect the PCB to keep its word. So far, only Peshawar Zalmi have shown support for the addition.

The other four franchises have remained hush about it and The Express Tribune has learnt that officials of the other franchises feel that the addition of another team would mean a small slice of the overall earnings pie for each side.
The decision to include a sixth team rests on a meeting that will be held in the first week of May between the PSL Governing Council officials and franchise owners.
“What we feel is that the PCB should stick to its promise of including the sixth team after two editions because the other five franchises have invested heavily in the league and they should get the chance to recover their money, if not earn a profit, before the sixth entrant,” one of the franchise officials told The Express Tribune.

On the other hand, PSL officials are confident that they would be able to convince a majority of the franchises to agree to a sixth team as all the finances have been sorted out.
“We believe that the sixth team will prove beneficial for the PSL and the increase in revenue would mean each franchise gets even more money even after it is shared six ways,” explained a PSL official.
