Pakistan Cup: K-P defeat Sindh to secure place in final

FAISALABAD:

A century by the skipper Ahmed Shahzad steered Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) into the final defeating Sindh by seven runs in the thrilling eighth match of the on-going Pakistan Cup at Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad on Wednesday.

With the win, K-P have qualified for the final of the tournament by securing six points in their four matches.



Batting first, K-P posted a high total of 319 runs with the loss of six wickets in their allotted 50 overs as man of the match Shahzad struck 15 boundaries and two sixes to score 143 runs off 135 balls along with Fakhar Zaman scoring 68 off 79 balls to build an opening stand of 176 runs. Sindh’s Muhammad Amir, Rumman Raees and Bilal Asif took two wickets each.

Chasing 320, Sindh team, despite a 164-runs fourth wicket partnership between unbeaten Khalid Latif and Fawad Alam, were restricted to 308-8 runs in 50 overs. Young Sameen Gul was able to break the strong partnership by dismissing Fawad.

He earlier dismissed Khurram Manzoor for two as well, while Ziaul Haq also took three wickets for 50 runs.



For the final, the team K-P will be led by Younus Khan who left the team after their second match and first win. Shahzad led the team in the other two.
