KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday sought comments from the interior ministry and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on a contempt petition filed by model Ayyan Ali for not allowing her to leave the country. Ali approached the SHC on Tuesday contending that her name had not been removed from the Exit Control List (ECL), despite a previous Supreme Court order. The SHC directed the interior ministry, FIA and immigration authorities to file their comments by next the hearing of the case on May 4. The model was arrested at Islamabad airport in March last year on charges of smuggling around $500,000 out of the country. She remained in prison for four months before being granted bail. A month ago, the SHC had directed authorities to remove Ali’s name from the ECL. The decision was challenged in the Supreme Court but the apex court upheld the order.
