PESHAWAR:

The Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar (WSSP) has intensified its ongoing rat-killing campaign as more than 5,500 of the creatures have been exterminated and disposed at the main dumping site.

Besides dry lime fumigation is also taking place on a regular basis.

WSSP Spokesperson Taimur Ahmed Shah said the drive was extended to more areas of the city areas falling mostly under Zone A and B. This was based on public demand for extermination.

A detailed schedule has been planned and implemented for the last couple of days in different parts of the city. Additional teams were formed to run the drive on a regular basis. Rodents have bitten dozens and caused havoc among the residents,” he said, adding the drive will continue till May 30.

The spokesperson further stated that WSSP teams completed their drive in different union councils of the city. He said a schedule had been finalised for other UCs left out of the drive thus far.
