The Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) would certify, free of charge, 28,000 uncertified skilled force through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) programme by June 30, TEVTA Chairperson Irfan Qaiser Sheikh said on Monday.
He was speaking at a meeting to review progress on the RPL programme through TEVTA’s Ustad Shagird programme, at TEVTA Secretariat.
The TEVTA head said the TEVTA had issued certificates to 19,000 candidates by April 15. The programme was under way across the province, he said.
Sheikh said that in view of an overwhelming response in the first phase of Ustad Shagird programme, the scheme had been extended to major TEVTA institutes across the province.
The chairperson said that uncertified skilled workers, under the programme, were being certified after they went through theory and practical examinations.
The programme has been designed to meet national and international market demands, he said. The certificates would be acceptable both at home and abroad, he said.
TEVTA Chief Operating Officer Jawad Ahmed Qureshi was also present on the occasion.
