Divisional Commissioner Captain (r) Nasim Nawaz said on Monday that the provincial government was trying its best to provide citizens the best possible health facilities.
A state-of-the-art kidney transplant centre would be set up in the district to facilitate patients suffering from kidney ailments.
The commissioner was presiding over a meeting at the Punjab Medical College to review various issues pertaining to the establishment of a kidney transplantation centre.
RPO Bilal Siddique Kamyana, Punjab Medical College Principal Al-Fareed Zafar, Health Services Director Zahid Malik and Urology Department In-charge Safdar Hassan Sial attended the meeting. The commissioner directed officials to prepare a feasibility report regarding the funds, medical equipment, doctors, paramedic staff, and machinery required to provide kidney transplantation facilities.
Dr Safdar Hassan Sial said the urology ward was operational at a public hospital and all necessary facilitates to treat kidney ailments were available there.
“However, we do not have a kidney transplant facility in the district.” He said the facility would be provided at the Allied Hospital.
