Rs5 million approved for heart disease centre

KARACHI: Administrator Lala Fazlur Rehman approved the release of Rs5 million to the Karachi Institute of Heart Diseases (KIHD).

The amount will be spent on the maintenance of the hospital’s operation theatre and the angiography machine, besides other essential supplies including emergency injections. During a visit to the hospital on Tuesday, he directed the EDO finance and planning to release the money to the institute immediately.

He also visited the coronary care unit (CCU) and Outpatients Department (OPD) where he met with patients and inquired about their health. Meanwhile, deputy project director Dr Siraj informed him about the hospital’s problems. He also constituted a committee headed by KIHD Director Dr Abdus Samad to give its suggestions regarding various matters, including the procurement of medicines. He said that more resources will be provided to KIHD during the next fiscal year, adding that timely disbursement of salaries to the hospital’s employees will also be made possible.

During the visit of the construction site of Nazeer Hussain Shaheed hospital near Nipa Chowrangi, the administrator formed a committee, comprising the EDO works and services, EDO law and EDO health, who would submit a report on the project within 10 days.
