Bad blood: Police inspector’s killer arrested
A spokesman said Inspector Rana Sarwar had been killed in Farooqabad a few days ago
FAISALABAD:
Faisalabad police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested the murderer of a police inspector and recovered stolen money and a car from him. A spokesman said Inspector Rana Sarwar had been killed in Farooqabad a few days ago. He said a police team had been investigating the case. He said the team had arrested Rana Asha’ar, a nephew of the slain police official’s estranged wife, who had been seeking divorce. The police spokesman said Sarwar and his wife had been getting along in their 18-year marriage. He said the inspector often beat her. He said his wife had adopted two nieces, Asha’ar’s sisters, and had been living near the Agriculture University with them. The spokesman said the late police official often visited his wife and beat her. He said last week Asha’ar killed Sarwar during one of his visits and took away Rs1.8 million and his car. The police said the man had confessed to the killing. They said he would be produced before a judicial magistrate on Thursday.
