'Udta Punjab' trailer shows Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt like never before
Warning: It contains strong language!
The trailer of Abhishek Chaubey's Udta Punjab has been released and it has left fans in a tizzy.
Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt -- two of the four lead actors in the movie -- are almost unrecognisable in the action-packed promo. Produced by Ekta Kapoor, the movie also features Kareena Kapoor and Punjabi actor Diljit Dosanjh.
A movie based on the drug abuse problem affecting Punjab's youth, Udta Punjab (which translates to 'Flying Punjab') shows Shahid as a tatted up, rock star Tommy Singh with a colourful vocabulary, and drug addiction.
Karan Johar happy with Alia Bhatt’s progress
Alia Bhatt has branched out in her acting career with this film. NDTV reports Alia as saying, "I think our director Abhishek Chaubey was sceptical about casting me in the film. I am happy that I am a part of it. This character is completely different from what I am in real life. I felt that there would be out of box things in the film and it has."
While Kareena Kapoor stays within her comfort zone as Dr Preet Sahani, she insists the role is still very different for her.
Indian Express reports her as saying, “I play a doctor in the film. It’s (the role) very simple and nice, good Samaritan kind of a thing. But the whole atmosphere of the film is so nice and dark that the role is very different.”
Kareena Kapoor’s career aspirations
The trailer has everyone buzzing with excitement.
