RAWALPINDI:

Regional Police Officer Wisal Fakhar Sultan Raja has sought an explanation from police high-ups for failing to arrest accused persons, who had allegedly tortured and splashed acid on a man.

Dr Uzma Javed, a resident of Satellite Town, lodged a complaint with the New Town police stating that Aqeel, Laeeq and Shafiq kidnapped her brother Javed at gunpoint and took to the house of Saima Butt in Mohala Eidgah where they along with Rukhsar Butt tortured hi and threw acid on him before dumping him on Saidpur Road. The police had lodged a case against the accused, however, no arrests had been made yet.

The RPO issued show cause notices to New Town Police SHO Chaudhry Shahid and ASI Tahir Abbas, the investigation officer, for not arresting the culprits despite a lapse of eight days.
