LANDIKOTAL: At least three children were bitten by stray dogs in Landikotal in Khyber Agency on Sunday. Residents told The Express Tribune that two Afghan children were bitten in Mukhtar Khel and one in Sultan Khel.

They said the children were playing on the streets when they were attacked. However, the children were shifted to the agency headquarters hospital in Landikotal for treatment.

Some days ago, 10 children were also bitten by stray dogs in the same area. Residents said health officials failed to take preventive measures against stray dogs, and demanded the authorities take immediate action.

In 2015, at least 20 people, including seven children and three women, were bitten by stray dogs in Upper Dir. Incidents of dog bites also occurred in Almas, Tarpatar and Jabar areas of Asheri Darra. All those injured by stray dogs were taken to the district headquarters hospital.
