Bureaucracy hatched conspiracy against me: Gabol

Minister accuses bureacrats of plotting against him after his resignation.

Express January 24, 2011

ISLAMABAD: State minister for Ports and Shipping Nabil Gabol said on Monday that the bureaucracy hatched a conspiracy against him.

While addressing the National Assembly he referred to the police raid on his house and inclusion of his name in the Exit Control List, on the verbal orders of a bureaucrat, soon after his decision to quit the cabinet.

Gabol added he will not leave the country as he has done nothing wrong and has faced this unwarranted action with courage.

It is not for the first time that Gabol, a member of the National Assembly from Pakistan Peoples Party’s Karachi stronghold of Lyari, submitted his resignation to the prime minister, only for him to return.

He complained earlier about not having any say in the ministry. However, during his meeting with Prime Minister Gilani, Gabol complained about law-enforcers’ operations in certain areas of Karachi.

The complaint about not being in the know regarding the law-enforcers’ actions is something that has resonated within PPP’s ranks. Following a massive operation in Karachi’s troubled Orangi Town, both Interior Minister Rehman Malik as well as Sindh Home Minister Zulfikar Mirza complained they were not taken into confidence.
