JIT formed to review Sarfaraz Merchant’s statement

ISLAMABAD:

A  Joint Investigation Team (JIT) was constituted to review the statement of Sarfaraz Merchant on allegations against the top leadership of the Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) in connection with the money laundering case and MQM leadership’s alleged connection with the Indian spy agency, Research and Analysis Wing (RAW). The Ministry of Interior has notified the formation of the JIT in this regard.

The head of Counter Terrorism Wing of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Mazharul Haq Kakakhel will head the JIT while one of its members will be from the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and two other members will be from the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

According to the notification, Raja Tahir Iqbal will be part of the investigation team on behalf of Sindh Rangers.  The JIT will review the statement of Sarfaraz Merchant which he had recently recorded with the FIA.
