LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday issued notices to the federal and provincial governments in a petition filed by Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed, leader of the opposition in the Provincial Assembly (PA). The petitioner submitted that there was no check on financial malpractice and misuse of authority across public and semi-governmental departments. He said the Public Accounts Committee had not been functioning effectively. He said shadow cabinets were commonplace in the United Kingdom (UK). Rasheed requested the court to direct the government to amend the PA’s rules of business and constitute a shadow cabinet to put an end to corruption.
