‘Attempted murder’: Cop wounded in bungled robbery

The SI was said to be in critical condition

RAWALPINDI: A police sub-inspector is said to be in critical condition after he was shot by motorcyclists on Murree Road in an attempted robbery. According to information from the City police station, SI Nasir Mumtaz was shot in the abdomen when he resisted two motorcyclists who snatched his cell phone. The SI and ASI Imran are said to have stopped outside a juice shop near Committee Chowk around 2am on Saturday night when the motorcyclists attempted to snatch the cell phone of the SI from dashboard of his car. SI Mumtaz resisted and caught one of the bikers when the other is said to have fired at the officer. ASI Imran rushed the SI to district headquarter hospital for medical treatment. The SI was said to be in critical condition. The City police have registered an attempted murder and robbery case.
