LAHORE:

Bureaucratic hurdles created by provincial departments in Punjab are the biggest issues for overseas Pakistanis when it comes to investing in their homeland, which often leave them with no option but to roll back investment plans, said Punjab Minister for Industries Chaudhry Muhammad Shafiq.

“We will continue our fight with such miscreants that impede the establishment of new industries,” said Shafiq in the inaugural ceremony of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (LCCI) third expo on Friday.

LCCI President Sheikh Muhammad Arshad said the expo was mainly organised to generate business activities in Lahore. “Local companies are exhibiting not only general consumer items but exportable items too like handicrafts, readymade garments which have immense export potential. The desirable thing is to market them in an effective way,” he added.
