“We’ve been training with whatever limited resources we have,” Ushna told The Express Tribune as she won the semi-final of the Modern Club Founder Members National Tennis Championship 6-4, 6-3 against fellow Fed Cupper Sarah Mahboob yesterday.
“Women’s tennis in Pakistan is still very limited, but we’ll try our best. I think we’ve prepared better than last time, and even now we are playing a tournament to make sure we head into the Fed Cup in top shape and rhythm.”

Mahboob echoed Ushna’s sentiments about the lack of resources as well as international events taking place in Pakistan. “Fed Cup is actually the only tournament that we have for international exposure,” said Mahboob.
“I still don’t have any sponsors, so we need to do well in it and play as a team, which is the most important thing.”
