Using a human rights lens while reporting on issues will contribute to improving human rights protection in the country as well as help towards Pakistan’s international law obligations.  This was stated by senior journalists, media professionals and civil society representatives at the launch of Democracy Reporting International’s (DRI) “Reporting on Human Rights, Pakistan Media Guide” at the Quetta Press Club on Thursday.  Hassan Nasir Mirbahar, DRI’s team leader in Pakistan, said that journalists and media workers have a very important role in any democratic society in the information they bring forward and help shape discussions on many important civic issues.  He, however, added that there is a need to increase focus on human rights related issues in the media.
