Tinted glasses: City courts release 20 arrested men

The suspects were produced before two South district’s judicial magistrates

KARACHI: Two city courts released on bail on Thursday around 20 people arrested on Wednesday for having tinted glasses in their vehicles. A crackdown was launched in Clifton and Defence Housing Authority on Wednesday, in which at least 20 people were taken into custody for violating the ban on the use of tinted glasses in vehicles under section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code. The arrested men were booked under Sections 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) and Section 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) at Darakhshan, Clifton, Gizri and Boat Basin police stations. The suspects were produced before two South district’s judicial magistrates, who ordered their release on bail upon payment of Rs5,000 in surety.
